It is not fun getting older.  Nobody wants to looks like their age.  I try very hard to take care of my body and skin.  This year we hired a co-op student.  I am responsible for assigning and monitoring his work.  He over heard my co-worker and I talking about our kids, he ended up asking me how old I am.  I guess he was surprised to learn I have two kids.  He thought I was younger.  It makes me so happy that people think I am younger than my age.  It shows that my hard work is actually paying off.

I am a pro online shopper for beauty products.  I have found it to be so much easier to discover new products and get some pretty amazing deals when shopping online.   I am not a big fan dragging my kids to do some shopping.  My daughters are still too young to be interested in makeup but give a few more year I will be taking my oldest daughter under my wing and teaching her all that I know.  In the meantime, I love shopping at the comfort of my home while the kids are asleep.  I don't feel rushed and no kids are making a mess at the display.  A few months ago I noticed Scarlet & Julia web ads and had no idea what it was until I was sent a package to try them out.

Shout Factory! Pound Puppies: A Rare Pair ~ #Review #Giveaway

During my days off, my daughters and I love to watch DVDs.  We always enjoyed watching the Pound Puppies team matching kids to the right dog to take home.  In this DVD, we meet a team of cats who also match kids to the right cat to take home.  This teaches the kids that you can get not only dogs at the pound but also cats.  There is even an episode where Lucky and his team help an alligator find his perfect owner.  Great DVD to watch during the weekend.

CBC has greenlit ANNE, an exceptional, new television series based on the timeless children’s novel Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The international co-production will see 2016 Golden Globe-nominee and Emmy® Award-winning Breaking Bad alum Moira Walley-Beckett and fellow Canadian producer Miranda de Pencier join forces with Alison Owen (Temple Grandin) and Debra Hayward’s (Pride and Prejudice) U.K.-based Monumental Pictures to bring the series to life. ANNE is expected to begin production this spring and will debut on CBC-TV in 2017 with eight episodes.

“We’re thrilled to be working with this exceptionally talented group of women on this exciting project,” says Tara Ellis, executive director, scripted content at CBC. “This new take on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved story will be highly anticipated by fans of Anne and a whole new generation of viewers who have yet to meet her.”

At its heart, ANNE is a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and numerous challenges, fights for acceptance, for her place in the world and for love. The drama series centres on a young orphaned girl who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an elderly spinster and her aging brother. Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform their lives and eventually the small town in which they live, with her unique spirit, fierce intellect and brilliant imagination. While the new series will follow a similar storyline to the book that millions of readers around the world know and love, it will also chart new territory. Anne and the rest of the characters in and around Green Gables will experience new adventures reflecting timeless issues, including themes of identity, sexism, bullying, prejudice, and trusting one’s self.

“Adapting Anne’s story really excites me,” says Walley-Beckett. “Anne’s issues are contemporary issues: feminism, prejudice, bullying and a desire to belong. The stakes are high and her emotional journey is tumultuous. I’m thrilled to delve deeply into this resonant story, push the boundaries and give it new life.”

De Pencier, who brought the idea of the series development to Walley-Beckett and the CBC, under her Northwood Entertainment banner, says “Moira has found a way to make this classic heroine, loved by so many readers, feel wonderfully fresh and modern. Must Try GayLea NEW Nordica Smooth Cottage Cheese ~ #Review #Giveaway

Usually, I only like my cottage cheese in my lasagna, never as a snack.  I know it is healthy and I tried it with fruit flavours but it was never my forte.  However, when I learned Gay Lea's has invented Smooth Cottage Cheese, I was very eager to try it.  It comes in two flavour - Salted Caramel and Vanilla Bean.  When the cottage cheese has the same texture as Greek yogurt it makes it all the difference.

I love shopping at Sephora but I hate the line ups, especially during the weekends and holidays.  Shopping on Sephora's website is so easy and I have never found an issue with my shipments.  There is an online Sephora code for VIB member and I think Rouge members can use it too.

Cost of Living 2016 ~ #Money

Happy 2016?

Major increases will be affecting me this year:

1. My local public transit system has increase their fares starting January, 1 2016. $0.25 for cash fares and $0.10 for tokens.  For the time being, they froze the current price of my Metropass.  It is expensive enough since it costs me $129.75/month since I am locked into their metropass program.

2. My Rogers will increase their internet, cable, and phone rates.  My internet will increase by $3 per month.  I hate when they increase it.  If Rogers is increasing their fees, you can expect Bell will too.

3. Once again, Canada Post will increase their fees.  Effective January 11, 2016, stamps for letter mail will remain $1 for mailing in Canada and $1.80 for mailing in U.S.

4. Our dollar keeps on diving into a low rate that we have not seen for a long time.  We will expect the price for food will continue to rise.  It is expected to increase by 4-4.5%.

5. My hot water tank (Direct Energy) rental has increased by another $0.50.  When I first moved into my house over 8 years ago, it was around $10 - now it is close to $16.

6. Back in December 2014 it was discussed that Ontario Hydro bills could go up 42% within 5 years.  So if you were paying $125 it could go upwards to $178 a month plus HST, this is going to hurt alot of people.

7. Enbridge rates are going up and it has already taken effect beginning of the year.  The increase will be approximately $63 annually.

Rent - maximum of 2% increase is allowable in Ontario in 2016 - see guideline here
Condo Fees
Car Insurance
Increase in EI & CPP premiums - less take home pay
Camps, after school programs, Day Cares
And the list could go on and on.

Decreases,
This year I went hunting for a different home insurance.  I was able to find another insurance provider and I was able to cut my premium in half.

Price of gas is still lower than it was a few years ago.  However, the price is oil is one of the reasons why our dollar is low too.

I am also expected that my mom will live with me for awhile so you can guess my utilities will also increase.

This summer both my daughters will go to camp.  I pay roughly $200 a week.  Now it will be more than $400! a week.  I have to place them for 4 weeks so that will be $1,600!  Ouch!  I have to pay all of this in March so I can reserve the spot for July and Aug.

Which increases will affect you the most?

Anything I have mentioned above is through research via online newspapers.  Please do your own research to get accruate numbers.

You Have to Try NuPasta ~ #Review & #Giveaway

I know most people would like to try dieting and/or eating healthier at a start of a New Year.  I would like to reduce my carbohydrates intake.  Carbohydrates turns into sugar which we use as energy.  When we eat too much carbohydrates in our system and we don't use it up, it then turns into fat.  I love pasta so I would be hard to cut it from my diet however, there are pasta substitutes like NuPasta.

I am not surprised to hear that 1 in 5 Canadian women have very sensitive skin.  I have a co-worker, a close girlfriend, and my baby girl all have sensitive skin. NCircle Entainment Houdini & ABC Monsters DVD ~ #Review & #Giveaway

Happy New Year!  It has been a tradition to relax and stay in on New Years Day that my girls and I have a movie marathon.  There are two great DVDs to enjoy during this holiday season - Houdini & ABC Monsters.  My kids have no idea who Houdini is and with the help of this movie they can now associate that he is a great magician.  Young Houdini really wanted to be a great magician but he was struggling with it.  We watched Houdini and learned that in order to reach his dream he needs to work hard on it and to never give up.  The next DVD is a must have for the little ones who is going to presschool and kindergarden.  My daughter is starting to learn her letters and ABC Monsters is perfect DVD to help her learn.  This is a great educational DVD for the little ones.
