The witch tapped the broomstick and whoosh! They were gone... This is a story of a witch on a journey riding on her broom with her cat. Every time she travels at a distance she loses an object and down they go to collect it. She makes new friends every time she does and they join her on her broom.
I love the animation - some parts were in CG, and some parts they actually built that makes it so real. It is very enjoyable to watch and there were a few parts where my youngest daughter laughed at. I have not had the chance to get a copy of the book and I would have to look for it. Simon Pegg did an amazing job narrating the story. Gillian Anderson did the voice of the witch but the witch only had a very few lines so I couldn’t tell that was her voice. Too bad, I was hoping for more. It is a short and simple movie. We watched it back to back because watching it once was not enough. The whole family enjoyed it and of course it has a nice happy ending. I really like the story and I hope the writer, Julie Donaldson, end up making a series of them and introduces us a whole new adventure of the Witch and her friends on the broom.
The Room on the Broom movie has been come so popular that it has won many awards including the International Kids Emmy award.
"From the creators of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child comes Room on the Broom, a beautifully animated film based on the best-selling children's picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
This is the story of a kind witch who invites a surprising collection of animals to join her on her broom, much to the frustration of her cat. When the gang saves the witch from a fearsome dragon, she rewards them with a magnificent new broom with room for everyone!
Room on the Broom is a magical tale of friendship and family directed by Max Lang & Jan Lachauer with the voices of Gillian Anderson, Rob Brydon, Martin Clunes, Simon Pegg, Sally Hawkins, Timothy Spall and David Williams."
