Fantastic New Scent! Palmer's Cocoa Butter meets Rosehip ~ #Review & #Giveaway

I have been using Palmer's for eons...OK maybe I am not that old but I have been using Palmers for quite sometime.  I used it especially when I was pregnant with the girls.  When I was round and heavy and people were wondering if I was carrying twin boys, both times I was itchy all over.  I'm dying when my skin won't stop irritating me.  What helped was Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion and the skin therapy oil.  I can't remember how many bottles I have gone through.  I remember at one point they were so hard to get at my Walmart because they were flying off the shelves.  I even had to go down to the US to purchase them.  One time I purchased the cocoa butter formula jar for myself when I was in the US, my husband hid it from me and used it all up.  What a sneak, and he never replaced it...men....

Wake Up Your Hair with Batiste Dry Shampoo ~ #Review & #Giveaway

Have you noticed how popular Dry Shampoo has become the past year?  It is a great product to have when you don't have time to wash your hair or are unable to for one reason or another.  Many dry shampoos come in a shaker and the powder could become messy at times.  However, this Dry Shampoo by Batiste has become all the rave among the bloggers that it is the best one in the market, especially in UK.  It comes in a spray can so it is very easy to administer into the hair.  There is no mess and very easy to use - shake, spray, brush, go.  Easy Peasy.

There are currently 8 types of Dry Shampoo (Original, Tropical, Blush, Diva, Boho, Wild, Tones, XXL) and the most

Let's eat Cake! with McCain: Deep'n Delicious ~ #Review

I was invited to a lunchon to meet with Tori Spelling about her new book, celebraTORI: Unleashing Your Inner Party Planner to Enterain Friends and Family, and the relaunch of McCain's Deep'n Delicious cakes with better ingredients.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the event but they did send me some coupons to pick some cakes at the stores to try them out.

McCain was one of my childhood treats while growing up.  I remember they were $2 each and didn't have many flavours/choices.  I think they were also bigger or I have gotten bigger and noticed things are just getting smaller.

The relaunch of their classic McCain Deep'n Delicious Cake (Chocolate, Marble, and Vanilla flavours) "that are now with better ingredients as part of the company's McCain It's All Good commitment to make foods with real ingredients like you'd find in your own kitchen."   Hmmm, I wonder

Sunburned! ~ #Life

Did you get sunburned?  The horrible thing that I don't wish it upon anyone.

So what to do?

  • Take some pain reliever (aspirin or ibuprofen) which will reduce the inflammation
  • Put apply a cool cloth on the area
  • Depending how server it is, take frequent cool showers/bath without soap or scrubs - water only
  • Apply lotions containing Aloe Vera or Aloe Vera (if you have any) to the area to help it to heal faster.
  • Drink plenty of water to prevent from dehydration
  • Wear loose clothing and wear sunscreen to prevent further damage
  • However if you are running a fever, go see a doctor because you might have heatstroke

The best way to treat a sunburn is not to get one at all.  So don't forget to apply sunscreen all over including your lips, every two hours or more often.  Have fun!

Yves Rocher: Retropical Party ~ #Review

Yves Rocher has launched a whole new makeup collection called Retropical which will remind you of a retro pin-up summer with colours of reds, oranges, pinks, blues, and greens.  The makeup collection is inspired by paradise and is filled with flamboyant colours, and warm light fragrances.

The colours are so vibrant that they reminds me of Hawaii or somewhere tropical.

Looking for a lovely and fresh scent for this summer.  Try the Retropical Eau de Toilette (75ml, $25).  It is light, floral and has a fruity scent for any occasion.  During the summer I like to wear something that is light and not heavy so I could see myself wearing this fragrance often this season.

I hardly wear lip gloss because usually I don't like it sticking to my loose hair.  It is messy and uncomfortable.  However the Retropical Gloss (4.5ml, $4.95) is amazing, really!  I love how vibrant the colour is and it is non sticky.  After a few hours of wearing it it is still as vibrant as when I first put it on.  I really like the applicator, it is like a lip brush.  A+ in my books.

I have quite a few eye pencils but they are all the same old black, brown, or white.  This time I had the opportunity to try Retropical Eye Pencil in Eucalyptus (3.25g $5.95) and the Retropical Duo Khol pencil in Tropical Mint/Bougainvilles  (0.52g, $4.95).  The Retropical Eye Pencil in Eucalyptus could be used as a kohl or an eyeshadow which I love how pretty it looked on my eyes.  It goes on smoothly and very easy to use.  I love how this green shade looks on my Asian complexion.  OK ladies I feel like hitting the beach!  Who is with me?

These products are available in all Yves Rocher stores, online, or by catalogue at 1-800-361-2746.

Don't forget to follow them on Facebook and Pinterest page.

Its hot and lovely outside.  Who is heading out to the beach?  Is it time to purchase a new bathing suit or a bikini?  I guess it is time to shave those unwanted hair.   Don't forget to pick up some shavers while out shopping.  Let me introduce you to BIC Soleil NEW! Shave & Trim, their "first all-in-one disposable shaver that allows women to shave all body parts and groom even the most sensitive spots."

Based on statistic, most women experience skin irritation and redness after shaving bikini area.  "Using a shaver that has a bikini area trimmer is an excellent tool to trim the are with better precision and less irritation."

"This shaver has three flexible blades and a pivoting head for a flawlessly smooth shave.  It has a lubricating strip with Vitamin E, for a silky smooth shave.  There is an easy slide-on/slide-off trimmer head for safe, simple and easy bikini trimming that would be just the right length.   It has a pivoting head with rubber grip for ultimate comfort."

I think this shaver is great.  The shaver on its own does a nice close shave.  The slide-on/slide-off trimmer is so easy to use and does the trim that I like.  The handle of the shaver is light weight and has the perfect grip for my hands so it wont slip out while in use.  The lubricating strip does its job but would love it to be larger but other than that, this product is perfect to have for this summer.

Okay, now that you are all set it is time to hit the beach and make every person out there be jealousy of you.  Summer is short so show it, flaunt it, or what ever.  Have fun this summer.

Get Your Whites Clean with OxiClean MaxForce ~ #Review & #Giveaway

My family and I don't own many white towels or clothing because I know how hard it is to clean them and keep them white.  In the past I have soaked them in bleach but instead of making my clothes white they turn yellowish.   One time I have even purchased white dye and that didn't even work so over the years I avoid purchasing white items and if I did, I expect them to turn slightly off white over the months of washing them.

There is one brand that understand Canadians who want to keep their whites looking their whitest.   OxiClean has launched OxiClean MaxForce Pure Whites Laundry Stain Fighter & Booster in powder and liquid format as well as a spray.

It proclaims it will get your clothes whiter up to 50 per cent vs the other leading brands.  It is an oxygen-based stain fighter that is chlorine bleach free.  It could be use in regular or HE washers.

The spray proclaims it could take out the toughest, dried-in stains which includes:

  • Grass and blood
  • Chocolate
  • BBQ sauce
  • Gravy
  • Grease and oil
  • Food stains
  • Soil and clay

As I mentioned before, I don't have many white towels or clothing but I did have a few.  After one wash, my off white towels still looked off white but my white tank top did look whiter.   I keep looking at it and I do believe that it does look whiter - as white as when I first purchased it over a year ago.  It is quite amazing.  Maybe it is time I could start purchasing white towels and clothing again.  Not only does it make my whites look whiter, it also made them smell nice and fresh - not that awful bleach smell.

GIVEAWAY!

I bet you want to try the new OxiClean at home.  You are in luck.  One of my readers will win a neat prize pack (valued $45) from OxiClean which includes:

  • OxiClean Soccer Ball
  • 2 New OxiClean MaxForce Pure Whites Laundry Stain Fighter & Booster Liquid
  • 2 New OxiClean MaxForce Pure Whites Laundry Stain Fighter & Booster Powder
  • 2 OxiClean MaxForce Spray

Great Hair Products by Boo Bamboo ~ #Review & #Giveaway

You might have seen this brand in stores.  I have seen them at Walmart and a few times at Winners.  The first time I have seen this name brand was in the baby isle at Walmart.  What attracted me to them was its name.  It sounds so cute!  When I researched them I had no idea they had a full range of products.

Who is Boo Bamboo?
A Canadian company (woot!) that specializes in all natural personal care for the whole family.  Their "all natural formula contains Certified Organic bamboo extras".

I had the opportunity to try their hair care collection which contains rich ingredients to provide strong and healthy hair and claims that it straightens hair 5x.  Each product from the hair collection I tried smells like either watermelons or the freshness from after the rain.  After using the shampoo and conditioner it does make my hair clean and refreshed.  The texture reminds me of any other shampoo and conditioner but the shampoo actually does sud up more than your typical all natural shampoo.   I am not the only who likes the shampoo and conditioner, my eldest daughter is using it too!

I really love the shine serum making my hair smooth and healthy.  I wish this comes in a bigger size because this size won't last me since I have been using it everyday on my long hair.  The best part is keeping my hair frizz free!  The volumizing mousse and hair spray were great!  I have so much crazy baby hair that goes all over the place and these product held my hair in place without weighing it down and without awful crunch.  They were perfect when I am curling my hair.  I really love the revitalizing conditioning treatment.  It made my hair soft and can see myself using this often.

My daughter and I love the Boo Bamboo hair products.  It kept my hair lovely and healthy.  Another great Canadian product that everyone should at least try and you might end up love it like my family and I.   I am not sure about straighten my hair 5x since I thick and straight Asian hair.

Boo Bamboo products are free of SLS, parabens, phthalates, sulphates, synthetic dyes & fragrances, formaldehyde, petrochemicals and common allergens.  It is also cruelty free and vegan.

Boo Bamboo not only sell hair care products but also baby care, sun care, and even skin care line.  Check them out on their Facebook page and website.  Boo Bamboo products are available in stores (see listings) and online like well.ca and BabyOrganicJoy.ca

GIVEAWAY!!

The winner will receive Boo Bamboo shampooconditionershine serumhair spray and the revitalizing conditioning treatment valued approximately C$50.

This giveaway will run from July 11th to August 6th, 2013 (midnight EST).  Winner, You have 72 hours to reply.  You must be 18+ Canadians Only.  Good Luck!

Leave Burt & Ernie Alone ~ #Life

Sesame Street was one of my most watched TV shows while growing up.  I enjoyed watching the characters teaching me the letters, words, how to count, and listening to them break off into a tune.  They were just puppets created by the infamous Jim Henson who has brought many happy childhood memories.  Then over the years as an adult hearing a debate if Burt and Ernie were gay or straight.  Seriously?  Why are people debating about the sexual orientation on two puppets that have no pulse?  I thought they were brothers but that is just me.  As I quote "Sesame Street and the company of founder Jim Henson has insisted many times that the orange and yellow pals are neither straight nor gay nor transgender or anything else: "The remain puppets, and do not have sexual orientation."

So there, leave them alone.  Stop taking something so pure and innocent and throwing in something that is not there in the first place.  Don't take something like love and friendship and warp it into a joke.  If they are gay or not, who cares.

My Vacation this Past Week ~ #Life

Yes!  I was off this past week.  Been very busy with the girls.  Once I go back to work, I know I will have a pile of catching up to do.  It always feels like a punishment for taking some time off.

One day I took my oldest daughter downtown to do a little shopping and have some ice cream at Mushies.  I love the idea where I pay by the weight of the ice cream because I could mix it up with as much flavour I want and how little I want in my cup.  The best of all is that I dont have to share with my daughter.  She could pick the ones she wants and I pick my own.  We didn't go over board and I spent under $4.

The next day I took my oldest to to IKEA!  We managed to grab their $1 breakfast and free coffee since I signed up to their membership.  I dropped my daughter at the playland for 40 mins while I did a quick shopping in the store.  In the end I bought two kids IKEA stools for $8 each.

I did mention that I would take my oldest to the movies.  I wasn't sure which one to see since I like a showing closer to noon so I have enough time to pick up the little one.  I try to avoid watching 3D movies since it does not fit well on top of my glasses.  For most people it is fine but I have a small Asian nose so I cant put two glasses on my nose.  We decided to watch Despicable Me 2 since it was the only one showing around noon.  We both enjoyed the movie but I think I enjoyed it more than my daughter.

It has been so long we went on a road trip so we decided to head over to the US side for a day trip.  The traffic and crossing was horrible but we finally made it in one piece.  One of the stops we had to make was the Lindt store.  They sell my favourite Marzipan chocolate that you can only purchase in the US.  There is a Canadian version but it is not as good as this little piece of heaven.  After we grabbed some lunch at Five Guys, I was a bit disappointed that there was nothing I like at my favourite stores - Anne Taylor, Banana Republic, Forever VVI and Sephora.  I left empty handed.  However we did stop by Best Buy to purchase a new pair of head phones and books for my daughter at Barnes and Nobles.  I have never been to Barnes and Nobles before today and it felt like walking into Chapters.  I did finally purchased a Michael Kors purse.  Too bad the sale is not as good as the Coach Factory Outlet.

We finally got the chance to go strawberry picking.  My daughters had a blast eating them than putting them in the containers.  I love the taste of warm strawberries that have been soaking up the sun.  It makes is so sweet and tasty.  I just cant believe we picked over $7 of strawberries.  They were $2.25/lb.  On our way home we picked up a tub of vanilla ice cream and a few homemade apple turnovers.

This has been a very busy week for me and I have a few plans for the girls this summer.  It looks like it is going to be a busy summer for us.

Annabelle: Colour Control Cream & Pressed Powder ~ #Review

First there is the BB  (Beauty Balm) cream and now there is CC (Colour Control) cream. Another popular product from Asia (Korea) that provides natural looking skin coverage.  BB cream is a cross between a foundation and tinted moisturize with added benefits.  CC cream is for colour correcting for redness and uneven skin tones so you apply before your foundation with more added benefits.  Also the DD cream is already in the market.

Annabelle offers three CC products - Instant perfecting Base Natural Finished (30ml, C$16.95), Instant perfecting Base Luminous Finished (30ml, C$16.95) and pressed powder (8g, $16.95).
They are are oil free, paraben free, perfume free, non comedogenic, hyper allergenic, and dermatologist tested.

This cream can be worn alone or under your foundation.   For best coverage, mix the BB cream with the CC cream.  Annabelle states that the CC cream neutralizes the redness, dull, and uneven skin tones, while also reducing the appearance of pores, fine lines, and leaves a flawless anti-shine finish.  It primes the skin for makeup and improves foundation wear.

In the mornings I apply the CC cream first then put on my foundation or my tinted moisturizer.  Both of them combined made my skin look more healthy and made my skin soft.  It blends on my face easily and it provides me with great coverage.   When I apply the CC cream first I don't need my foundation or tinted moisturizer as much as usual.

The press powder is enriched with vitamin E and antioxidants which I apply after my CC cream and foundation. It mattes my face giving me the complete and perfect look for the day.  For the few days I didn't had time to apply the CC cream, my co-workers would ask me "what is wrong, you looked tired".  How interesting is that?

These products are available were Annabelle products are sold.

Great news.  Now you can order Annabelle online at www.annabelle.ca.  They ship to Canada and US.

Vichy at Luminato Festival (I) ~ #VichyLuminato #Review

I had the opportunity to attend the Vichy Skin Health Centre at the Luminato Festival in David Pecaut Square.  The experience was fun, interesting, and informative, and I even walked away with some samples.  During my session, I had my face photographed, tested, and inspected which helped me understand which products I should be using.  I have oily and dehydrated skin (hence I flake in some areas of my face) with some uneven skin tones.  Yeah, my skin sucks.

After the consultation, each person would be photographed with their favourite Vichy product and if you post it or tweet it, Vichy would randomly draw a winner to win their skin care routine.

One of their recommendations for me is to try their Noramaderm line for acne prone skin.  Regardless of how old I am, I still get the odd acne which sucks since sometimes it feels like I am still a teenager battling bad acne.  This line is gentle on my skin and wont dry out my face.  I have no idea why I have not tried this line before.  It figures -  I always walk by something that is perfect for my skin right under my nose every time I am in Shoppers Drug Mart and/or in Rexall.  I am so fortunate that Vichy sent me my skin care routine to try at home.

The Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel is so gentle and I feel refresh after using it.  It is not a soap so it won't dry out my face and become uncomfortable.  The texture is very gentle and it has no scent.  It is paraben and alcohol free which is the perfect face cleanser everyone will love.

The other product the consultant advise me to use is the Normaderm 3 in 1  which is a cleanser, scrub, and a mask.  I massage this on my dry face to cleanse and scrub then leave it on as a mask.  Before I wash it off,  I damp my hands and scrub all the impurities on my face once more then rinse it off.  This product keeps my face from flaking and leaves it all soft and refreshed.  Once again this is not a soap, and it is paraben and alcohol free.

As a mom, I am always on the go or on the road and I need a quick freshen up.  I have tried Normaderm Micellar Solution which cleanses and purifies without rising.  This is great product for those long road trips or for those days when I am trying to rush out the door because I am running late.  I use this as a toner after every facial wash to wipe away any impurities left on my face.  It is soap, colorant, paraben, and alcohol free.

There is one product so far I have fallen in love with - Normaderm Total Mat.  It is for the girls like me that needs something to control the shine on the face.  The Total Mat is perfect for this summer for its anti-shine, anti-humidity, and its light and gentle fresh hydrating gel.  This anti shine last me a good couple of hours (sometimes longer) which is fantastic.  Usually my face gets really shiny after an hour.

After applying the products above I have mentioned made my face so soft and refreshed which I couldn't stop touching my face.  It feels so unreal after one wash.  Can you believe it?  It bet it would do wonders to my skin if I use this for a month - Imagine that!

This is just some of my Vichy skincare routine.  The consultant didn't want to set strict guidelines for me and wanted me to try a few other products which I will mention later.

If Vichy sets up another Skin Health Centre in the future, you got to check it out.  They might recommend some products that would be perfect for your skin.

Update ~ #Life

Wanted to say I hoped everyone had a great long weekend.  I, myself have been really busy with the kiddies now that school is out and trying to keep them busy.  That being said, I have been racking my brains working on a few more giveaways and content for the blog.  I am hoping you are enjoying them so far.  I have been keeping a look out for more Canadian coupons so hopefully I might stumble on more these coming weeks.  I am planning to give some out on my Facebook page very soon - you might never know when...

My goal this summer is to lose roughly 10 lbs with the help of PGX.  It was a rough start and I still have not gotten the grove yet on this diet.  I have to admit that I love food.  It is so difficult to find the time to go for my run.  I know some who don't use an MP3 player to work out but I can't live without mine.  I need the motivation and I have alot of fast beat songs to help me reach the next step.

Just wanted to keep you guys updated and say thanks for following.
